Biography
Greg Hendricks came to painting honestly: by staying awake too long. After years driving trucks across American interstate highways, Hendricks began spending his sleepless nights with watercolors. Where others saw the curse of insomnia, Hendricks recognized a calling—proof the best routes in life often come from the detours.
A mixed-media folk artist with a fondness for landscapes, Hendricks paints with the freedom of someone entirely unconcerned with fashionable seriousness. His work carries equal parts intuition, humor, curiosity, and hard-earned observation from a life spent actually looking at the world rather than merely discussing it at gallery openings.
There are whispers Greg may possess a touch of color blindness, though one suspects this simply liberates him from the burden of sensible color choices. His grandchildren often join him to exploit this freedom for a spot of studio mischief—proving Hendricks’ philosophy that the best creative decisions begin with, "Let’s see what happens."
Humble, wildly talented, and refreshingly free of pretension, Hendricks approaches art much the way he once approached the open road: with instinct, endurance, and a willingness to discover what waits around the next bend. Sleep, after all, may be essential—but art is considerably more interesting.
